The 2021 Ford Edge is going its own way. And more power to it!
In spite of the current trend of midsize SUVs expanding to include third-row seating, Ford has decided to take a different approach. The 2021 Ford Edge will offer comfort in two rows—but we’re talking maximum comfort.
Despite the face-to-face showdown with competitors that include the Chevy Blazer, Honda Passport, Hyundai Santa Fe and Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport, the Edge sets itself apart with ample space for four adults. What’s more, the updated infotainment system makes it an ideal vehicle for long trips.
The four-cylinder base engine produces 250 horsepower, and even though its accelerations are less intense, it should provide enough power for even the most spirited motorists.
However, if you’re looking for an SUV that can go head to head from 0 to 100 with the Volkswagen Golf GTI, the Edge ST with its 2.7 L 335 hp twin-turbo V6 and standard all-wheel drive has what it takes to knock your socks off.
The Ford Edge offers a pleasant driving experience and reassuring stability when cornering. The steering is beautifully weighted, if not particularly responsive, and the ride is smooth even on rough pavement.
The entire Edge lineup is getting new wheel designs, and two new shades of grey have been added to the palette.
All models will be equipped with rear parking sensors, as well as laminated acoustic glass on the front side windows for enhanced noise reduction.
The infotainment system has been upgraded to a Sync 4 interface and now boasts a 12-inch screen. The premium ST model will come standard with a six-way power-adjustable passenger seat and heated steering wheel.
