The Ford F-150 is a veritable icon. For more than five decades, it has not only won all the highest honors, but has also been the top-selling pickup truck in North America. Better yet, it has been the best-selling vehicle in all categories combined. The 2022 Ford F-150 is very likely to retain that honor, as the versatile pickup continues to offer all the comfort and work capacity that made it famous. It will also maintain the rugged, modern style that has enabled it to reach such heights.
The 2022 Ford F-150 should feature very few changes, as the model was fully redesigned in 2021. One of the elements that will certainly remain unchanged is the military-grade aluminum body. To be clear, this design lends the vehicle exceptional strength and rigidity, while eliminating the risk of corrosion that all too often attacks the bodies of other pickups. The 2022 Ford F-150 will also be available with the FX4 Off-Road Package, which includes an electronic-locking rear differential, a Rock Crawl driving mode, shocks adapted for off-roading and much more.
The Ford F-150 never fails to impress with its versatility. Powerboost technology, launched last year, will in all likelihood be a major asset in the list of available options. This hybrid engine offers exceptional power, while significantly reducing fuel consumption. The Powerboost combines a 3.5 L V6 EcoBoost twin-turbo engine with a 47 horsepower mini electric motor that’s directly integrated into a 10-speed automatic transmission. As a result, it produces a combined 430 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 570 pound-feet of torque at 3,000 rpm, making the hybrid version the most powerful pickup of the series. All of this translates into an enhanced capacity for work. In fact, the 2022 Ford F-150 Hybrid pickup can tow up to 5,760 kg, making it the third most rugged powertrain of the series, after the 3.5 L EcoBoost V6 (at 6,350 kg) and the 5.0 L V8 (at 5,896 kg). All that with average fuel consumption of only 9.8 liters per 100 kilometers, according to Ford data.
The 2022 Ford F-150 carries on the model’s tradition of offering occupants a comfortable, refined interior. The various versions, ranging from the simple XL to the top-of-the-line Platinum, include a vast range of accessories to enhance the driving experience. Among other notable features, we’re referring here to seats that fold down flat and a gear shifter that can completely disappear into the center console to provide a practical worktable. An onboard generator, along with a power tailgate, will also most likely carry over to the 2022 Ford F-150.
The biggest innovation in the 2022 Ford F-150, however, is the upcoming 2022 Raptor R. This new version will be equipped with a 3.5 L V6 twin-turbo engine. Ford hasn’t yet announced the Raptor R’s power, but we expect that it will be at least equal to the 450 hp offered by the previous generation. The 2022 Raptor R will also see a 200-pound increase in its payload capacity and towing capacity, which will reach 1,400 and 8,200 pounds, respectively. In addition to its powerful engine, the Raptor R will have the capacity to tackle even the most rugged terrain with ease, thanks to its extra-long swing arms, 24-inch coil-spring rear suspension, FOX Live Valve internal bypass shocks and more.
If you’re patient, you’ll see the arrival of the Raptor R sometime in 2022, with power expected to exceed 650 hp. As for the new 2022 Ford F-150, it should be here in the fall of 2021.
