The 2024 Ford Bronco Sport is a compact SUV made for escapades off the beaten path. Built on the same C2 platform as the Ford Escape, it’s nevertheless a bit more at home in the forest than in the city. For 2024, the vehicle’s look will continue setting it apart, with the characteristic Bronco grille, boxy body style, higher ground clearance and all-wheel drive. By opting for the Black Diamond Package, the more adventurous among us will benefit from a full complement of off-road equipment, notably including skid plates underneath the floorboard.
No major redesign is in sight over the coming months, although Ford hasn’t yet confirmed anything. However, 2025 may very well be a year of change. Meanwhile, an ample selection of versions (Base, Big Bend, Heritage, Outer Banks, Badlands and Heritage Limited) will remain on the menu for 2024. Some of these will undoubtedly feature a few minor modifications.
Many fans of hybrid vehicles are hoping to see the arrival of a Ford Bronco PHEV, especially since the Escape and Maverick already offer this type of powertrain. It’s certainly feasible that Ford will modify the system with regard to all-wheel drive—a natural in the case of the Bronco. The automaker should soon make any such intentions clear. A hybrid powertrain with power surpassing 200 hp would certainly be appropriate.
In any event, for 2024, we’re sure to find either a 1.5 L inline-three EcoBoost (181 hp/190 lbf·ft) or a 2.0 L inline-four EcoBoost (250 hp/277 lbf·ft) once again under the hood. These two reliable, relatively economical engines pair particularly well with the standard eight-speed automatic transmission.
It’s also extremely likely that the GOAT system drive modes (Sand, Slippery, Sport, Eco and Normal) will be present again in 2024.
For 2024, the Bronco Sport Heritage Limited edition should remain one of the most popular models. The Oxford white safari-style roof, 17-inch Oxford white rims, white grille with “Bronco” appearing in bold red lettering, tinted windows, numerous safety features, exhaustive list of off-road equipment, and more have made it an instant cult classic.
