Ford may continue producing the Edge in Ontario for one more year. To date, the Ford Edge has been one of Canada’s best-selling midsize SUVs with two-row seating. For the 2024 model year, it will essentially retain the same look and the same qualities.
A comfortable, roomy vehicle, the 2024 Edge is available in several different versions. The entry-level model is the SE, with an MSRP of $42,595. Meanwhile, the top-of-the-line model is the ST, starting at $56,495. Between the two are the SEL, ST-Line and Titanium models (with an MSRP ranging from $46,395 to $50,095).
The SE version of this elegant SUV offers a generous amount of equipment. It comes standard with a 2.0 L inline-four EcoBoost engine featuring direct injection and a twin-scroll turbocharger. The 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque this powertrain provides give the Edge a nice amount of pep, while consuming only 11.5, 8.3 and 10.0 liters per 100 kilometers (city, highway and combined fuel economy). Intelligent AWD and an eight-speed automatic transmission are also standard equipment.
The other engine under the hood of the 2024 Ford Edge is reserved for the sporty ST version. Specifically, it’s a 2.7 L twin-turbo V6 EcoBoost, which can produce an impressive 335 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. Intelligent all-wheel drive and a seven-speed automatic transmission provide plenty of support, enabling the Edge to go from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 6.5 seconds. This is notable considering the weight of the vehicle (at over 2,000 kilos).
In keeping with the SUV’s distinguished silhouette, this solid powertrain gets assistance from standard mechanical and electronic components worthy of a luxury SUV. Notably, these include optimized suspension, 21-inch wheels, four disc brakes, the AdvanceTrac system with Roll Stability Control (RSC), Hill Start Assist, independent front and rear suspension, Torque Vectoring Control, Post-Collision Braking, and more.
All versions of the 2024 Ford Edge are roomy and practical. They all have the same dimensions, with a length of 4,796 millimeters, a height of 1,736 millimeters and a width of 1,928 millimeters. The volume of the cabin is 3,225 liters, offering 1,020 mm of headroom. Cargo volume, for its part, can reach 2,078 liters. As for maximum towing capacity, it’s 3,500 pounds.
On the popular SEL version, motorists especially appreciate the roof side rails, DEL fog lights, power liftgate, intelligent access with push-button start and the Lane-Keeping System. The same goes for Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), the Auto-Dimming Rear-View Mirror, the Battery Saver and the Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) with Cross-Traffic Alert. The Co-Pilot 360 Assist+ system is optionally available on this version.
Particularly luxurious in the ST-Line and Titanium versions, the cabin of the 2024 Ford Edge comes standard with a full complement of instrumentation. This includes a 12-inch central touchscreen, as well as multimedia and connectivity systems (SYNC 4A, Apple CarPlay, FordPass Connect and Android Auto). This is in addition to the Belt-Minder, MyKey and Personal Safety systems, as well as front and rear air bags and side curtains.
The manufacturer’s limited bumper-to-bumper warranty for the 2024 Ford Edge, regardless of the version, is for 3 years or 60,000 kilometers (whichever comes first). The warranty on the powertrain and safety restraint system is for 5 years or 100,000 kilometers.
