Ford’s midsize SUV, the Ford Explorer, will undergo a few major changes for the 2024 model year. Even if it retains its conveniences and versatility, it will see some significant modifications, lending a touch of modernity to a vehicle whose most recent redesign was several years ago.
For the moment, we don’t know the specific details regarding all the new features we could possibly see in the 2024 Ford Explorer. Nevertheless, there have been a great number of spy shots, and plenty of experts have been quick to share their predictions as to the elements that will be subject to revision for 2024.
Although the 2024 Ford Explorer will maintain the same dimensions, the automaker will make some tweaks to its style. The most recent photos reveal a redesigned front end with slender headlights that wrap around the corners of the vehicle. The grille and bumper have undergone some changes, as well.
Ford has also made a few touch-ups to the rear end, concealing the exhaust tips in a revamped bumper. A new full-width strip of lights completes the look.
However, according to the latest available information, the most extensive changes will be in the cabin of the 2024 Ford Explorer. We can expect to see a large horizontal screen lodged at the top of the dashboard, displaying the multifunctional SYNC 4 system.
The center console will remain largely unchanged, with the exception of a redesigned space reserved for induction charging. We anticipate that most of the controls will appear on the touchscreen menus. This will free the dashboard of physical buttons, resulting in a cleaner look.
In terms of design, the new 2024 Ford Explorer should feature some major changes; however, it will be no less practical or family-friendly. It will still have two or three rows of seats, depending on the version, with capacity to seat six or seven with plenty of head- and leg-room.
This layout will offer an imposing cargo volume of more than 2,416 liters with the seats folded down, or 515 liters with all the seats in place. This will make it easy for you to transport all of your sports equipment or enough luggage for a small family, regardless of the length of the trip.
Fans of the vehicle have applauded the creation of a 400-horsepower Sports Technologies (ST) version over the past few years, and they’ll be able to continue appreciating it for the new model year. The 2024 Ford Explorer midsize SUV will have numerous other versions on the menu, as well.
The entry-level models will feature a 2.3 L inline-four EcoBoost engine, known for its power and fuel economy. A 3.0 L twin turbo V6 will also be available, producing 385 hp in the standard version and 400 hp in the ST version.
A hybrid model, equipped with a naturally aspirated 3.3 L V6 backed up by an electric motor, will guarantee enough power to meet all your needs, while positioning the 2024 Ford Explorer among the best in the midsize SUV class when it comes to fuel consumption.
Since it’s a versatile SUV with a sporty temperament, the 2024 Ford Explorer will still avail of all-wheel drive and a variety of selectable drive modes affecting different components of the vehicle. It will also retain its maximum towing capacity of over 2,540 kilos (5,600 pounds), enabling you to set out on an adventure with your favorite toys or your trailer in tow.
In addition to its capabilities, the 2024 Ford Explorer will avail of a long list of onboard driver assist features, ensuring the safety of every occupant. Thus, it will offer full connectivity, including a WiFi hotspot and the Ford Pass app, which provides remote access to a number of different controls via your smartphone.
The next generation of the Ford Explorer could very well be electric. However, the 2024 version of the midsize SUV should prove once again that it’s versatile and capable of satisfying your needs.
