The 2024 Ford Mustang represents the seventh generation of the model. However, there’s no style rupture; everyone will recognize its look at first glance. Enthusiasts will appreciate that it’s still available in coupe or convertible configurations.
There are subtle nuances present. Notably, a redesigned front fascia with a slightly different grille and headlamps with three “pupils” each, in coherence with the six bands of the redesigned rear LED tail lights. The rear fenders are more pronounced, and the fixed side glass ends in a point. Inside, the main change is the dashboard with digital display: 2 separate screens (1 large panel on the upper versions).
The selection is vast, with no less than 9 distinctive trims: EcoBoost Coupe, EcoBoost Premium Coupe, EcoBoost Convertible, EcoBoost Premium Convertible, GT Coupe, GT Premium Coupe, GT Premium Convertible, Dark Horse, Dark Horse Premium. Prices start from $39,415 to $81,560.
To power the 2024 Mustangs, Ford has invested in two engine options. A 2.3-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder producing 315 hp / 350 lb-ft of torque, standard in EcoBoost trims. Then there’s the 5.0-liter V8 Ti-VCT generating 480 hp / 415 lb-ft. With the optional performance exhaust system, this V8 gains an extra 6 hp and 3 lb-ft. It’s standard on the GT models. Furthermore, with mechanical elements borrowed from the former Shelby GT500, this Coyote eight-cylinder reaches 500 hp / 418 lb-ft in Dark Horse versions.
All 2024 Ford Mustangs can be equipped with a 10-speed automatic transmission and have electrically-assisted power steering with three settings (comfort, normal, sport). Note that with the V8, the standard transmission is a 6-speed Getrag manual on the GT, and a modified Tremec TR gearbox on the Dark Horse.
Performance package, anti-drift brake, active exhaust valve with dual exhaust tips, and remote start (optional) – Mustangs are designed for pleasure and sensations. Handling and braking match the speeds attained. And, with standard Track Apps, performance measures (accelerometer, G Force, acceleration times, etc.) are displayed on the 12.4-inch touchscreen / 13.2-inch central screen.
